Ree Drummond - The Pioneer Woman is Aboard!

WOW AND UTTERLY COOL...Ree Drummond -- aka The Pioneer Woman -- has been added as a KeyNote to The Creative Connection Event in Minneapolis in September.

Wow! She is one cool woman in business and I am sure she will inspire everyone at the event with her stories and her savvy. Treat yourself to a read of her various "confessions", cooking journeys (I need the new cookbook for sure!), photographs and a peek at her lifestyle...I just got lost in la la land on her site for a blissful early morning hour with my coffee and well, the day ahead seems just a bit more manageable and sane!

Here's a link to her site...
REE's SITE

You need to get to know this gal, at the event in person, if not via her site and blog postings. They are making a movie about her and her journey - Black Heels to Tractor Wheels starring Reese Witherspoon (is it the name?,that they are both so darn pretty or maybe the accent...hmmm)...ohh ahhh I am ready for the popcorn!

Hope you'll be able to join me and the other gals on board at The Creative Connection event and get an up-close peek into The Pioneer Woman's realm. Click this link to the website to register for the event...

OR if you want to just come and browse around for the day, you CAN GET A DAYPASS!

She will be speaking at a Frontier Luncheon on Thursday Sept 16 and autographing her cookbook on Friday at the HandMade Market beginning at noon.

Hope to see you there!

Listen and Learn - Me on Virtue Radio

I am tickled that Judith Norman, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Virtue Radio Network, asked me to be a guest on her
WOMEN CREATE SERIES - "Lessons in Business for Women"

Judith is a dynamic, sincere and savvy host; she really got me thinking and asked some fab questions about how I got my start in business, why I host events and what folks that attend an Earth Angels' event can expect!

If you want to listen to the podcast (...and hear me and my Queens accent and New York speed chatter...) about why and how I do our Earth Angels' events, click this link:

A BIG THANKS AGAIN to Judith...not only for the personal opportunity to share some of my event planning tips and business lessons, but for creating such a truly fab venue through which women can learn and grow (I have been listening to tons of her podcasts as I work and I am loving the chance to listen and work.)

Hope you'll listen in to some of the podcasts by women in business, enjoy what you hear and learn...

Wow Jo Proud

The day is sweet, my copies of Issue#8 have just arrived here at Earth Angels. Without a doubt, it is the best issue yet. Stellar in concept this issue of Where Women Create delivers more than its fair share of inspiration and, I must confess, I am proud to have been a part of putting it together..

Thanks to Ashley Carter, Pat Murphy and Jennifer Murphy for the honor of working with them to ...Here's a peek at the pieces I was able to work on with these wonderfully talented artist friends...

AND a BIG thanks to my wonderful friend Jo Packham, I was tickled to see my name in her letter from the editor..."From the Kitchen Table"...and JO YOU CAN borrow any of my clothes anytime you want (read her letter to get this comment!)

I was also totally thrilled to see Nancy Soriano's piece in the mag...Nancy and Jo are working together on The Creative Connection -- the event of the season! Can you spot 3 of Laurie Meseroll's Mud-Cakes and 2 of Debbee Thibault's pieces in her piece...look at your copy and see them...

I also loved seeing art from Earth Angels' artists Debbee Thibault and Ashley Carter in the piece on Jo's studio...Jo bought that "Crown of Js" at the first Earth Angels Spring Soiree she attended some years back...

And here's the new format for the Art Girls' RoadShow column...stay tuned for more on these adventuresome and artful gatherings, outings and more...

Ahhh so many images to devour (144 of them), so many stories to savour...I certainly hope you have your copy on hand...and do enjoy!
(...if you need to order this issue you can ring Earth Angels 8-8 NY time at (845) 986-8720 or email me at Jen@EarthAngelsToys.com)

...a million thanks to all of you for your support of this magazine...and you again, Jo, for the genius to conceive it and the brave spirit to see it through to its existence, its growth and its success.

Lanne's Floral Magic

...the summer is at it's peek and painter Jennifer Lanne seems to know just how to harness the texture and color of her garden and farm. Her lush floral paintings palpate joy and pay tribute to long, sunny days. Their array of hues well-befits the blooms and landscapes to which they pay their homage.

How does she manage this? Her home and gardens are ever the inspiration...here are some images of what they look like today...

And the paintings that were just born of this floral tour de force of farmhouse chic and rural wonder...

Thanks Jennifer for the wonderful florals and pastoral landscapes, they suit the season and their color in the colder months is a constant comfort and firm reminder of the sunny days soon to be...

Her gorgeous florals, landscapes, mixed media pieces and more are available on the site...mention this post for free shipping on any painting shown in this post and reduced shipping on anything else on the site....

Diana's Painterly Magic...

I'm just back from a visit to the home and studio of gal pal and Earth Angels' artist, Diana Card for a Where Women Create photo shoot.

Diana's studio is where she paints the wonderfully detailed, pastoral scenes she pulls from childhood memories of rural New Jersey and her love for the New England where she raised her family. It's also host to her beloved collections of books, vintage textiles and folk art oddities -- many created as gifts by her talented daughter and fellow painter, Deirdre Friebely.

The studio spans a duet of upstairs rooms in the Sussex County, New Jersey farmhouse that's housed her husband's family for generations. Three windows establish her trio of work areas; she moves from project to project beneath each to catch the sun as it rolls by her home.

Here are some overall images of her space...I love how it's orderly, thoughtful and whimsical in her appreciation for the beauty in the vernacular tools of her trade..

These are my favorite shots from the Where Women Create photo shoot...the magazine spread, slated for the November issue, will have oodles of detailed images, but I wanted to share these. As you can tell, I adored watching Diana work...

And here are a few peeks at Diana's wonderful home...it is utterly serene and lovely...I hope I get to visit again soon!

Here's a peek at my pals Leo and Deirdre with Diana on the lawn...

Thanks again Diana for all you do and share, the scenes you invite into my heart and memory and your friendship...and remember "Keep Calm and Carry On"!!!
